Karelia announces Software Developers' Kit for Sandvox 1.5
Karelia Software has released a Software Developers' Kit (SDK) for creating plugins for Sandvox version 1.5 and up.
The Sandvox SDK allows Cocoa developers to create new custom pages, pagelets, and collection index data types. By creating custom-built plugins, Sandvox can be extended far beyond the core of its own built-in eleven page types and nineteen pagelet types. For example, a developer might create a new pagelet type to display auction listings or local weather reports, or a new page type to display content from a new online video service.

Version 1.5.2 boasts over 50 enhancements, including smoother handling of media and various improvements to pages and pagelets, with updates to page archives, contact forms, collection indexes, Amazon lists, photo grids, sitemaps, raw HTML editing, and QuickLook previews. Under-the-hood improvements speed file handling and offer greater stability. Karelia Announces Version 1.1.2 of Its Free iMedia Browser
ALAMEDA, CA, USA, October 29, 2008: Karelia Software has released version 1.1.2 of the Karelia iMedia Browser, a free utility that adds the familiar "media browser" experience to just about any Mac application.
Version 1.1.2 features live updating of media libraries, improved parsing of iPhoto and Lightroom libraries, and restored access to Sounds, iLife Sound Effects, and iMovie Sound Effects. Thanks to reports from users and other developers, Karelia and other contributors to the Browser's open source framework have also made many under-the-hood enhancements resulting in smoother, faster browsing.

SpamSieve — $30 from C-Command software — is recent discovery of ours. We have been trying a number of spam-filtering techniques here at Karelia, and nothing has even come close to this gem. It's an add-on that you attach to Apple Mail or just about any Mac-compatible client; its filters are astoundingly accurate. It's also trainable so its performance improves over time.

We've decided to put out another version of Sandvox, right on the heels of the recent update, to provide even more Leopard compatibility. This fixes some late-breaking issues that we discovered only recently. Go download version 1.2.5 now, and then for those celebrating Thanksgiving, enjoy your holiday!
Now that Leopard has been out in the wild for a few days, we have had the opportunity to apply our final batch of fixes to Sandvox to make sure that it runs as smoothly as possible under the new version of Mac OS. Most of the fixes to Sandvox were actually workarounds for new behaviors (intended or otherwise) in Leopard.
The caveat that that we mentioned earlier about Graphical Titles still applies. We certainly hope that Apple will address this problem in Mac OS X 10.5.1.
